Well-Fed World

Advocate for a Well-Fed World

What You Can Do:

  1. Adopt a plant-based diet. Eliminating animal products from your diet improves your health, redirects valuable food resources, protects the environment, and saves thousands of animals over a lifetime.

Just starting? Request a Free Vegetarian Starter Kit and receive a weekly e-newsletter with recipes and health information.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is our recommended source for detailed nutrition guidance.

  2. Be a good role model. Stay healthy and keep a positive attitude to encourage others.

  3. Know your topic. Read through the information provided on this website. See especially the Resources and Links sections.

  4. Build a coalition. Build on your current strengths and networks. Figure out how the WFW topics fit with your current interests and help others see the connections. Use our materials or help us make materials for others. If you are not in a group, join one.

  5. Work in the environmental or food policy field? Critically examine the basic assumptions that underlie discussions and decision-making. Offer solutions that reduce dependence on animal agriculture, especially large-scale production.

  6. Give a presentation. Students, toastmasters and other civic or religious group members can give presentations using our materials. Also encourage your cafeteria and socials to provide a variety of meat-free choices.

  7. Coordinate an event. Use special occasions like World Hunger Day, Earth Day and The Great American Meatout to set up an info table and distribute information.

  8. Distribute pro-veg materials. Take leaflets, advocacy postcards, or other handouts to bookstores, health food stores, doctor's offices, or other appropriate, high-traffic areas.

  9. Purchase locally-grown and organic foods. Reduce your dependence on traditional grocery chains by voting with your shopping dollars. Consider supporting or set up a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program in your area.

  10. Request meat-free and dairy-free products from stores and restaurants. Want something specific? Then let your voice be heard. Get extra attention for your request, by putting it in writing and/or making a personal request from retail managers.

  11. Join Well-Fed World! E-mail us your contact information and a brief summary of your activities or interest and we'll add you to our networking list (used for occasional updates).
